Tweet Splitter
Paste long text — get a numbered thread of 280-character posts, cut at sentences and copy-ready. Works with X's real counting rules, free, in your browser.
How to split a long post into a thread
-
Step 1
Paste your text
Write or paste the full text — no 280-character juggling while you draft.
-
Step 2
Get numbered parts
The splitter cuts at sentences, never inside links, and numbers every post — each one shown with its own weighted count.
-
Step 3
Copy and post in order
Copy part 1, post it, copy part 2, reply to yourself — or hand the thread to the Thread Reader for preview and exports.
Frequently asked questions
How does the splitter decide where to break?
It packs as much as possible into every 280-character post, cutting first at sentence ends (both Latin and CJK punctuation), then at line breaks, then between words. A URL never gets cut in half — every link counts as its 23-character t.co weight and always stays whole.
Does the "1/ 2/ 3/" numbering count against the limit?
Yes, and the splitter reserves space for it: with numbering on, each post keeps a 5-character budget for the prefix, so even a 100-part thread stays within X's weighted limit. Turn numbering off if you prefer clean parts.
How do I post the thread?
Copy each part and paste it into a new post, in order — the Copy button on every card grabs exactly one part. "Copy all" copies everything separated by --- lines, which the Paste mode of our Thread Reader understands if you want to preview or export the thread first.
Does it count characters the way X does?
Yes — the same engine as our Character Counter: CJK characters and emoji weigh 2, every link weighs exactly 23, everything else weighs 1. Each part shows its own weighted count out of 280.
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
No. Splitting runs entirely in your browser — nothing is sent to any server, there is no account, and nothing is stored.
